Yarn Bases

All of our yarn bases are suitable for knitting socks. We have multiple bases with nylon in to increase the durability of the finished garment.

 

100g/400m 75% superwash merino / 25% nylon – fingering weight

50g/200m 75% superwash merino / 25% nylon – fingering weight

100g/250m 75% superwash merino / 25% nylon - sport weight (available on request)

100g/400m 75% superwash bluefaced leicester / 25% nylon – fingering weight

100g/365m high twist 80% superwash merino / 20% nylon – fingering weight

100g/365m high twist 100% superwash bluefaced leicester (nylon free) - fingering weight

 

There is an option within the listings to add a 20g semi solid/speckled/tonal contrasting mini skein to use for the cuffs, heels and toes for your socks if you wish. The mini skein will be the same base as your main skein, the colour is specified in the listing.

 

We sell our sw merino/nylon base in 100g or 50g skeins of self striping yarn. 50g with contrasting mini skein is enough to knit a pair of sock up to a UK 6 / American 8 / European 39 shoe size. You can use all of the yarn with very little to no leftovers.

 

If you have larger feet or would like long socks then please order 100g of the self striping yarn with the optional 20g mini skein. If you’re a beginner knitter I’d also recommend 100g as you don’t want to risk running out!
