Grand Canyon self striping sock yarn with optional 20g mini skein
This yarn is inspired by a beautiful photograph sent to me by Trudi. Her husband Colin took the photograph from Grand Canyon West Rim, Guano Point in November 2016.
She said they arrived quite late in the day specifically to see the sunset. Darkness fell very quickly so the light/colours were changing rapidly as we all took photographs. On the drive back into Las Vegas we stopped in the middle of nowhere and stood among the Joshua Trees looking up at the stars. We could see the edge of the Milky Way! She told me it was a once in a lifetime day that will stay with me forever. Photograph copyright Colin Tilley.
Grand Canyon is a self striping yarn and will stripe when you knit as follows;
Available to order on the following yarn bases:
100g 75% superwash merino 25% nylon (100g/400m fingering weight)
50g 75% superwash merino 25% nylon (50g/200m fingering weight)
100g 75% sw bfl 25% nylon (100g/400m fingering weight)
100g 80% sw merino 20% nylon high twist (100g/365m)
There's an option of adding a 20g sky blue mini skein to knit contrasting heels, toes & cuffs. This will be sent to you on the same base as the main skein.
Based on gauge of 10 stitches per inch you will get 2-3 rows per stripe. I used a 2.5mm needle & knitted my sock using the 75% sw merino/25% nylon base.
The yarn is hand dyed in small batches with professional dyes in a smoke-free environment.
All yarns are sent out in a skein/hank.
Though this yarn is washable, I recommend hand-washing your finished object with a wool wash such as euculan. Minimal colour bleeding may occur during the first few washes, so please wash apart from other items.
