At the end of October I’ll be celebrating another year of running Stripey Cat Yarns as a yarn company & as my full time job!
In the last few years I’ve released what I’ve felt inspired to create when I could create it! For the coming year I’ve thought a lot about what I’d like to create & set myself some challenges.
I’d love to challenge you too with a KAL/MAL using my hand dyed yarn - create a pair of socks using at least 50g of SCY each month. If you complete the full 12 months I’ll send you an exclusive sock set hand dyed by yours truly. Cast on 1st of the month & submissions to be sent to by midnight UK time on the last day of each month to Stripeycatyarns@gmail.com - please put the month as the subject line. CHALLENGE ON?
(Concise version of what I’m challenging myself to at the bottom!)
I’d love to create 52 brand new self striping colourways throughout the next year (Oct 21-Oct 22) this will consist of roughly 4/5 new colourways each month.
Towards the end of month I’ll have a scheduled shop update which will include;
Book Club - a surprise yarn club based on a story & book cover
2/3 brand new colourways
I’ll also be running a quarterly STRIPES! & Speckles! Yarn club so this will make up 12 of my 52 new self stripes challenge. These will be released in October to dispatch mid December, February to be dispatched mid April, March to be dispatch mid June & finally July to be dispatched mid September. I’ll add this club to the shop at the end of each month in the regular shop update. It’ll be best to be ordered alone, if you do wish to order other yarns at the same time your entire order will be dispatched once the last yarn is due to be dispatched.
I have to limit the number of orders I accept each month as I dye your yarn to order & the self striping is incredibly labour intensive.
I will endeavour to dispatch your order within one calendar month (4 weeks or so). So if you order at the end of October I’ll be anticipating dispatching it towards the end of November/beginning of December. Large orders may take longer to curate.
I am going to leave all previous colourways that I’ve dyed in the shop as a dyed to order, also to be dispatched within a month or so from your order being placed. These will only be available as 100g sock sets from now on though.
New colourways will be added to the preorder section after 6 months & they will only be available to order as a 100g sock set with a 20g mini skein. 50g sock sets will only be available in the first round of preorders when the yarn is first released. Book Club & STRIPES! & SPECKLES! clubs will be re-released after a year has passed.

I will endeavour to dispatch your orders within a month or so from your order, this cannot be guaranteed because I am pretty much a one woman band & I’m human ❤️
I’m having a shop update this Thursday 28th October at 7pm BST. You will find three new self striping colourways; A Head Full of Dreams, Recharge & The Great Lake. I will also have a speckled sock set for these too using the same colours as in the self striping. Book Club - the first edition is based on The Secret Garden & lastly I’ll have the first round of the STRIPES! & SPECKLES! quarterly yarn Club.
